Sat Oct 10 — Stefan Kramer, Chile's best-known impressionist, brings his show to La Bota Cervecera (Isla Teja) for the first time. Two sets, 8pm and 10:30pm. It's stand-up in Spanish and leans heavily on Chilean politics and TV, so fluent Spanish is a must. Sells out fast.
Oct 12-18 — The 33rd Valdivia International Film Festival, one of Latin America's most important: 200+ films across 10 venues in town. Single screening CLP $5.000, full pass CLP $30.000 (students and Valdivia residents $15.000), free for over-60s. Seating is first-come, first-served, so arrive early.
Sunday Nov 29, from 7am — Valdivia hosts Chile's first full IRONMAN: a 3.8 km swim in the Calle-Calle river, 180 km bike and a full marathon. The city fills up.
Dec 9-12 — FLUVIAL turns 10: over 50 Chilean and international artists playing venues and public spaces across Valdivia. The city's best-known music festival.
Jan 28-31, 2027 — Bierfest Kunstmann at Parque Saval: southern Chile's biggest beer festival, with live music, food and Central European tradition in Chile's Beer Capital.
Until Oct 30 — free exhibition of 43 Martín Gusinde photographs documenting the Selk'nam, Yagán and Kawésqar peoples, at Centro de Extensión Los Canelos (UACh). Free entry, Monday to Thursday.
Through Nov 14 — free interactive exhibition on the 1960 Valdivia earthquake, the strongest ever recorded, at the Philippi Exploration Museum (Isla Teja campus). If you're staying a while, this is the visit that explains why Valdivia looks the way it does.

Sunday Dec 6 — Choshuenco Cross Triathlon: swimming, mountain biking and trail running in the Sietelagos area, inland from Valdivia.

Dec 13-18 — Chile's 17th Geological Congress comes to Valdivia for the first time, at UACh's Isla Teja campus, with up to a thousand attendees from across the country.
Thursday Dec 17, 9pm — Chilean songwriting legend Eduardo Gatti plays an intimate show at La Bota Cervecera, Isla Teja.
